The Met Gala was weeks ago, but we are still on a high from the looks, the glam, the homage and the Textured Hair.

The scene is the 2025 Met Gala. The place is New York City. The carpet is blue, and the theme is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

Some of the most iconic looks were met by some iconic styles (pun intended) and we got the inside scoop on the hairstylists who created them.

Cosmetologist Anari Laurette @anarilaurette

For the 2025 Met Gala she styled Future who showed off his new look post locs. Sporting a teased twist out on blonde naturally tightly coiled hair.

Olympic star Noah Lyles’ hair was in his signature cornrows which she adorned in pearls.

Celebrity Hair Stylist Tokyo Stylez @tokyostylez

She serves as CardiB’s stylist often and for this look she used Vivace Hair to add volume to a wig using Got2b products to hold the hair’s volume in place. This look's most stunning feature was the shape that flowed effortlessly with Cardi B’s gown.

Natural Hollywood Stylist Jennifer Lord @naturalhollywood

Ms. Lord styled Ms. Regina King and Mr. Tramell Tillman.

Regina’s hair was a regal, gravity-defying braided couture piece that elegantly matched the regal curves of her outfit. It was a “nod to the ancestors.”

Tillman’s hair was styled in a classic gel twist look, with a slanted gentleman's part on the right giving it volume and shape.

Celebrity Hairstylist Randy Stodghill @hairjunkierandy

Mr.Stodghill styled everyone’s favorite mama Angela Bassett. The look as described by the artist was a soft, defined curl look that beautifully framed her face. To achieve this look he used Dyson tools and Phyton hair products. After defining the curls, he lightly teased the hair from roots to tip to build the volume

Artist Nikki Nelms @nikkinelms

Nikki styled Janelle Monae for the 2025 Met Gala. Janelle’s outfit was one of the most unforgettable ones of the night. When asked about her hair Janelle shared that, “Nikki and I was on the phone … and when she saw the look she said ohhhh this would be so cool if within the cornrows we had some stitching to continue the stitching on the outside of the jacket, and the suit and the skirt”. You can see white yarn seamlessly stitched into the cornrows bringing that vision to life.

Celebrity Hair Stylist Vernon Francois @vernonfrancois

Known for his work on textured hair and natural ability to create volume, Vernon’s work graced the blue carpet on two artists.

Lupita Nyong’o graced the blue carpet with her locs elongated by custom loc clip-ins. Vernon showed the process of this style being created on his Instagram page. The look was further enhanced with adornments that brought a bit of sparkle to this take on the traditional slick-back ponytail.

Doja Cat’s look was inspired by Grace Jones, and her hair was an unexpected voluminous afro that had unique shapes and mixed color.

Hair Legend Chuck Amos @chuckielovehair

Chuck styled PATTERN brand founder Tracee Ellis Ross. Using PATTERN products and tools, he created a sleek pulled-back braided bun. It was the perfect canvas for her big audacious hat that completed her look.

Traveling Artist India M Hammond @indiamhammond

Ms. Hammond styled the locs of the legendary Ava DuVernay. With a fresh loc grooming pulled back into a voluminous bun with layered loc petals, this look allowed for Ava to wear her hat and show off her hairstyle seamlessly.

Hair Artist Malcolm Marquez @malcolm.marquez

Mr. Marquez styled Doechii’s hair using Loreal Pro haircare and styling products to create a classic and voluminous afro.
